Some of the rumors I believe are driven by Obama himself and actions he has taken. For instance he apparently has not released his birth certificate which would verify he was born in the United States. Senator McCain had to address his foreign born issue and did so successfully. The bottom line is Senator Obama has a number of issues that are inspiring rumors (some true, some not). He is trying to run away from these issues but it is difficult when you have spent 20 years at the most radical levels of the political spectrum.
